Hello, Everyone! WON’T YOU PLEASE DONATE NOW? I must raise $1000.00 by May 24th in order to run Boston Children’s Hospital’s “Run to Remember” half marathon.
I ran this race last year and plan to run again this year mainly because my family practically lives at this hospital (I am not exaggerating). It’s not unusual for one or more of my five kids and I spend at least one day a week at Boston Children’s Hospital. These healthcare professionals are amazing! They treat my kids with kindness and gentle care. Many of the photos in the video represent my pregnant high risk clients who have traveled from all over the world to deliver in Boston so their child can get treatment at BCH. I deal with this hospital both personally and professionally.
My daughter Kendal’s unexpected neurosurgery in 2015 inspired me to raise the donations needed to run this half marathon last year. It took twelve weeks of fierce dedication to train, pushing my limits, both physically and emotionally, but I “broke through the wall” and ran the race with determination. Little did I know that just four months later, my 7-year-old daughter, Katheryn, would be diagnosed with a rare form of cancer by oncologists at BCH, and would be pushing through her own hard times with fierce determination.
Hopefully you will never have to experience walking into an operating room with your child, watching her eyes roll back from anesthesia, and then your only option is to walk back out that door, having no control over the situation. You sit and wait, clutching your child’s clothing, hoping you see your child awake again. Do you know how scary it is to have your child lose half her blood volume? Have ever you felt like your guts were being ripped out as you waited for your child’s test results that could be life-altering? Or have you watched your child have a cardiac episode in the middle of her basketball game and then be rushed to Boston Children’s because her issues were so complex local healthcare professionals did not know how to begin her care? Do you know what it’s like to walk into the cancer unit and see young children suffering and families wondering how much longer they have? I truly hope you will never feel the desperation, the panic, and the pain. I hope your child or family member will never need to use this hospital. However, if your child needs the most up-to-date medical care, we have the best in the world right here on our doorstep!
Please don’t ever take that for granted! I am so thankful to all of the providers at Boston Children’s Hospital; I honestly say my beautiful children would not be here without them. WON’T YOU PLEASE HELP ME RAISE DONATIONS TO RUN FOR BOSTON CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL? Our children’s lives may depend on it.
Thank you so very much!
