Hello friends, family and Colleagues
This is by far probably the craziest thing I have set out to do but I truly believe that it will also be the most rewarding.
A couple of years ago, 11 to be exact my youngest son Anderson was battling a couple of health issues and our Pediatrician suggested that we go up to Boston Childrens Hospital to get him evaluated. Well, lets just say that we have been going to Boston Childrens Hospital ever since. FYI.. Anderson is doing GREAT!!! Everyone at this facility is amazing from the individual that parks your car, to the sweet lady at the coffee shop and of course all the nurses and doctors.
Soooo, when I decided that I wanted to run the Boston Marathon, there was no other team I wanted to be part of then Miles for Smiles. One would think, that all you needed to do was join the Miles for Smiles team and start training and be on your way, boy was I wrong.. :) There is an entire process that you have to go thru, at times I felt like I was being put thru an interview to work for the President, but all ended well and I got the final call that I had been chosen to run for the Smiles for Miles Team.
As most of you know, I started running about 4 years ago on behalf of Noah Fernandes, who had Mitochondrial disease and was also a patient at Boston CHildrens Hospital. He has been my inspiration to keep running. I always say, I run because he can not, though I'm sure he is running up a storm in heaven right now.. Noah passed away this past Spring, 4 days before I ran my first Half Marathon. During the last 5 miles, I was in so much pain, I wanted to give up, but at about mile 9, I looked up and saw a bird and thought to myself, it's 40 degrees outside what is this lonely bird doing out here on the water, well let me tell you that little bird followed me all the way to the end of that race.. coincidence, I think not. Noah is with me every step of the way, one step at time, one mile at a time, one breath at a time.
I will be running the Boston Marathon on behalf of Noah Fernandes and the Team Noah Foundation. It is my goal in life to let others know that it's never to late to set goals and accomplish your dreams.
I have set a goal to raise $15,000 for Boston Children's Hospital and I'm asking all my friends near and far to help me make this dream a reality.
I love you all.
Let the journey begin.
Support my run, and support the hospital! Please make a gift today.
