Thanks for visiting my page! I am fundraising for Boston Children's Hospital for my 5th consecutive year. Boston Children's Hospital has been paramount to my health and well being. I have been working with the Hospital for 2 years to get my stomach issues under control.
A little over 2 years ago, Emily had 1 procedure and then 1 surgery to fix, what took a long and painful 6 months to diagnosis, ACNES nerve entrapment. We were thrilled when the surgery was successful and to know that it was a rarely diagnosed condition that Boston Children's Hospital was able to figure out. Emily went through 6 months of not sleeping, not eating (lost so much weight), and depression. As soon as the surgery was done and she was truly pain-free, I saw my daughter reemerge, dealing with the chronic pain took away my spunky, sassy, fun loving daughter away from me.
It is horrible to think that when she woke up this past Tuesday morning, she knew that it was back. How quickly our lives are back to dr. appointments, pain management, fear, and just overall unhappiness. We see the specialists at Boston Children's Pain Clinic on Wednesday, hopefully for some answers and a game plan.
When Emily had her surgery, she was only the 27th patient to receive this surgery at the hospital. They are still trying to figure out what causes it - we have no idea why Emily was afflicted with it. Children's Hospital is definitely the leader in cutting edge technology, diagnosis, and preventative help. The pain clinic, in particular, is amazing in working with families to find overall health. They try to manage the pain, they work with you to find ways for your kids to make it through school (gotta love those absences piling up).
Emily has fundraised for this amazing hospital for 5 years, she likes to give back to the place that helped her so much. Now she wants to fundraise to help the hospital that will fix her from this condition.
