Hi! My name is Daniel and I have a special heart. Two of my life saving open heart surgeries were done at Boston Children’s Hospital. When they were preparing me for my last heart catheter procedure (which turned into emergency open heart surgery), I admit I was scared. The nurses noticed and asked me what some of my favorite things were. Within minutes I had been gifted with Star Wars legos, a Patriots shirt and signed photographs from the Pats. I was still scared, but I was also really happy and excited. And when the doctors and nurses realized I was super brave during my emergency open heart surgery, you know what they did? They told the Patriots they needed to win the Super Bowl for me! I was really starting to think my favorite guys didn’t get the message, but that fourth quarter proved me wrong! A repaired heart AND Super Bowl champions?!? This hospital is amazing.
This February I’m having spinal surgery to help straighten my spine. They plan to operate on two parts of my spine and it’s pretty intense. I wish I could say I wasn’t frightened, but it’s always scary to have surgery. My mom and dad and I are just so grateful the surgery will take place at Boston Children’s. We would sure appreciate prayers and positive thoughts.
My mom is running the Boston Marathon in April and I’m her patient partner. I really want to help raise money for Boston Children’s Hospital. I like that I can help bring a smile to another kid who is scared. No amount is too small and every donation is really appreciated!! Thank you!
