When one life is lost, others can be saved. My family learned this the hard way on May 6, 2008, when my brother, Jeff, died after a tragic fall. When he was pronounced brain dead, as a family, we decided that the end of his life needed to mean something, and donated his organs. On his last day, Jeff became a hero, and gave the gift of life to 6 people. One of them being a 6 month old little girl, also named Caitlin, who would not have made it without part of Jeff's liver and a transplant performed by top pediatric surgeons at Boston Children's Hospital. Today, she is a truly amazing 9 year old girl who is so "good at life", and has become my best friend and "Mini Me". We will forever be known as the "Two Caitlin's". My family and hers have become one, and love to spend time together as often as we can. I truly urge anyone who is not already, to sign up to be an organ donor. Gaining Caitlin and her family in our lives is the only thing that has brought us light in the darkness of losing my brother. Please consider donating to my walk page in support of the Boston Children's Hospital: Pediatric Transplant Center and in memory of my brother.
