I’m excited to once again be participating in this year's Eversource Walk for Boston Children’s Hospital for the 5th consecutive year in support of the kids and families the hospital serves most notably my son, Carson!
When Carson wanted say “THANK YOU” to the hospital that was treating him for Crohn’s Disease, he formed “Carson’s Crew” and fundraised with his family and friends for the Eversource Walk for Boston Children’s Hospital. Together with your help we have raised nearly $70,000 over the past 4 years.
As Carson and his “Crew” embark on their 5th year, Carson has set a lofty goal of raising $50,000. More importantly Carson has arranged for every donation to directly support his gastroenterologist, Dr. Michael Docktor’s, Innovation & Technology initiatives at Boston Children's Hospital in an effort to cure Crohn's disease.
There is currently no cure for Crohn’s Disease, a chronic condition affecting both Carson’s mouth and intestines. Carson often experiences “flares” which result in painful ulcers and fissures in his mouth, abdominal pain, and severe constipation. Although oral doses and weekly injections of immunosuppressants are used to manage his disease, they also leave him more susceptible to virus and infections. If not for the use of cutting-edge technology in telemedicine that Carson piloted with Dr. Docktor – enabling them to securely video conference their appointments – he would have missed even more school for appointments and been exposed to more germs.
We believe in Boston Children’s Hospital, Dr. Michael Docktor, and forging innovation by creating tools, technologies and techniques that will help shape pediatric medicine and impact the lives of children at Boston Children’s Hospital and around the world.
We know we can get there with your help. We hope you'll consider supporting our efforts and making a donation today. Every little bit helps!
