I am so lucky. In these troubled times, I am even more aware of that simple fact.
I am privileged to have access to healthcare, a peaceful and loving home, and the joy of seeing my child grow up with the benefits of this good fortune.
Yet, these cornerstones of well being are not afforded to everyone. As the Director of Social Work at Boston Children's Hospital, I see many families struggling beneath the weight of acute and chronic illness, family and community violence, socioeconomic injustice and disaster. These families must choose between food and electricity, between transportation and medicine, between shelter and running water.
This is why my social work colleagues and I walk for Boston Children's Hospital. All donations go directly to our Social Work fund, where they are used to support families who are lacking the resources required to meet their basic needs.
If you are lucky enough to have the means to share some of your good fortune with Boston Children's families facing these unthinkable choices, please lend your support with a donation.
Thank you so much for your generosity.
