On September 13, 2017, Danny, Sophia, and I welcomed Olivia Laura to our family. We couldn’t have been more excited for another little girl. She was perfect in every way, just like her older sister.
At two days old, we received the devastating news that Olivia had been diagnosed with a form of congenital heart disease called aortic stenosis. Olivia needed an emergency procedure, and was transferred to Boston Children’s hospital by ambulance. On September 19, at 6 days old, Olivia underwent an emergency catherization on her aortic valve. The first procedure was a success, and her stenosis was reduced to mild. Olivia spent 2 weeks in the hospital, with her family right by her side. She was in the NICU, CICU and cardiology floor. She recovered well from the procedure and we took our beautiful little girl home.
On November 27, 2017, at 10 weeks old, Olivia underwent her second catherization. Again, this procedure was a success and we were able to take our little warrior home.
Danny, Sophia, Olivia, and I will be forever thankful for Boston Children’s Hospital. They saved Olivia’s life. Olivia has a long heart journey ahead of her, however we are so grateful for her amazing cardiologists. Boston Children’s Hospital has truly changed our world around. The care that Olivia has received was nothing short of outstanding.
Danny, Sophia, Olivia and I will be walking in support of Olivia’s heart. We will be joined by Olivia’s family, who has supported Olivia through this tough journey. Olivia is an amazing little girl, who is stronger than anyone we know. We kindly ask you to donate to Boston Children's Hospital, an organization that performs miracles everyday.
