2017 Eversource Walk for Boston Children's Hospital

Big Bad Wolfes

Our son, Emmett, spent the first 10 days of his life at Boston Children's Hospital (BCH) receiving the best care from some of the most caring doctors, nurses, social workers and volunteers. Because of this we are participating in a walk to give back to BCH so that they can continue to help kids like Emmett.

Please donate to our team, Big Bad Wolfes, and our walk to support and help kids like Emmett.

Our Story:

Emmett was born via c-section after a long, hard labor. He was immediately whisked away to the special care nursery before we could hold him. 12 hours later Emmett was transferred to Boston Children's Hospital after suffering seizures in the middle of the night.  Ryan accompanied Emmett to BCH, while Alyssa was separated from him for days while recovering from her c-section at his previous hospital. Emmett was later diagnosed with a permanent brain injury while at BCH.

From the minute the transport team arrived it was clear that Boston Children's Hospital was a special place. Everyone we encountered were incredibly kind, thoughtful, and exceptional at their job. The nurses in the NICU helped two very anxious and overtired parents get meals, rest and any support while we constantly stayed at our son's side. The lactation team helped Alyssa get started on the right track to successfully breastfeed even while being separated for such a large period of time after his birth. The neurology teams made sure that were were informed and had every resource available. The nurses on the neurology floor made sure we were comfortable and provided Emmett with great care.

Boston Children's Hospital is now a place where we are glad to be visiting for Emmett's current and future care. Please donate so that BCH can continue to care for families like ours.
