Hopkinton HEAL For LEAH
This will be the second year that Hopkinton HEAL For LEAH will participate in the Eversource walk in honor of our hometown hero, 5 year old, Leah Davis.
On January 20, 2016 Leah was diagnosed with cancerous tumors on her cervical spine, lumbar spine, and cerebellum. Leah and her family have undergone more in the past year than most of us will endure in a lifetime. Ten months of 2016 were spent having surgeries, fighting side effects of heavy doses of chemotherapy, undergoing a stem cell transplant and completing an intense regimen of high dose of radiation. Leah was fighting for her life when she should have been going to preschool, playing soccer and living a typical care-free life of a 5 year old.
The strength and determination of Leah and her family have been an inspiration to all they have encountered.
Leah has received outstanding care from Boston Children's Hospital (BCH), Dana Farber and Mass General. Unfortunately, the most recent scan showed a relapse in the cancer. There are no words. It is devastating. I have no doubt that Children's will continue to do all they can to treat and support Leah and the Davis family. The donations made to our team will be allocated to the neurosurgery unit at BCH where Leah spent many of her days in 2016. The funds will be used to assist patients and families with expenses during their hospital stay, play room supplies, meal vouchers, etc.
Thank you for your support! Leah is a warrior but please keep Leah and her family in your thoughts and prayers as they start this next fight. Together we are LEAH STRONG!
