Wyatt's Warriors

We are here for the third year in a row, walking for Boston Children's Hospital and the cardiology and cardiac thoracic surgery department in honor of Wyatt. Every day that Wyatt grows, learns and shares his wild loving self with us we are made aware of how thankful we are to have the top children's cardiology hospital in our backyard. Every aspect of BCH is absolutely incredible, the building, the staff, the doctors, surgeons and the nurses all come together to create a loving and welcoming environment for children and their families.
This past summer Wyatt underwent another OHS for resection of a membrane that was causing aortic stenosis. We were once again placed in a situation that no parent wants to be in, and yet once again reminded how incredible BCH is. From the moment we found out he would need another surgery, to the moment we walked out on discharge Wyatt was treated with the greatest care one could hope for. We were so nervous about the surgery and healing and how it would affect him at an older age. Would he be afraid? Would he struggle to stay calm and relaxed to heal while away from home? Would there be an unexpected issue? Would he feel pain? Would he cry? All these questions and more rang through our minds the weeks leading up to the surgery. Fortunately Wyatt showed us that he is infact a little warrior. He came out of surgery kicking and screaming and ready to get back on his feet again. He was only hours out of surgery and was trying to pull the breathing tube out. He spent only a few hours in the CICU before heading to 8 east. I remember the first moment he tried to walk after surgery. This tiny little guy, holding Matt's hand, draped in a teddy bear hospital gown with drain tubes hanging down was walking through the CICU halls, and all you could see was his big smile.
Wyatt's cardiologist is Dr. Marx and his surgeon is Dr.Emani, both are amazing!
Dr. Marx always walks into the room with a smile, we have so much confidence in his care and take such comfort in knowing that he is there with us to watch out for Wyatt. There are not enough words to express how grateful we are for him.
Dr.Emani has been Wyatt's surgeon from day one. We met with him when I was pregnant with Wyatt and from the moment he greeted us we knew he was amazing. Doctor Emani performed Wyatt's original surgery as well as the one this past summer. We ran into him
One time at children's when we took Wyatt to the ER, he was on his way out the door at midnight to head home. Is amazing how much care he gives his patients and their parents. Doctor Emani is someone special, someone we make sure to let Wyatt know who he is. Wyatt knows that Dr. Emani fixed his heart. He's excellent at what he does as a surgeon and equally as good at comforting parents while also making sure they are informed of the actual procedures.
Both Dr. Marx and Dr. Emani are special to us and not a day goes by that we are not thankful for all they do.
We are looking forward to having back all we can to BCH, a place that means so much to so many families.
Thank you BCH!
