We are walking in our 5th year to give back to an amazing hospital!
Charlotte was born with Esophageal Atresia with Tracheoesophageal Fistula, she has had over 20 + surgical procedures including new procedures developed right at BCH!
Charlotte was transferred to BCH a few hours after birth, unsure of what was going on with her health BCH was quick to identify that Charlotte’s esophagus ended in a blind pouch at the top and the lower part of her esophagus grew into her trachea (known as Ea with TEF). Her first initial repair surgery was at a day old.
Since birth she has had many procedures done to dilate her esophagus. Also was able to be a part of a newly developed surgery called a tracheopexy, which keeps her trachea open like a tent. This surgery was amazing and has had great results in her breathing. One other major surgery Charlotte has had is a fundoplication, which is when they wrap stomach around the lower esophagus to help prevent reflux from coming up from the stomach.
This past summer we successfully weaned off thickened liquids!!!!
Charlotte currently is treated by the EA clinic, an amazing team of GI, feeding specialists, pulmonologist and general surgeons.
Charlotte attends kindergarten and loves to perform in plays at our local theater. She is thankful that BCH is her hospital and once our second home.
Giving back to BCH = how we say THANK YOU
Thank you to the EA team
