Matthew was born on February 19, 2018 with Esophageal Atresia/Tracheoesiphageal Fistula (EA/TEF). EA/TEF is a rare congenital defect that we were unaware of, let alone knew anything about. Luckily, we live close to Boston Children's Hospital, the world's only center offering the Foker process, the most successful repair for the condition. Matty had surgery 18 hours after birth. Fortunately, the surgery was successful! He spent five days in the NICU and another week in pediatric inpatient care. We were told that we would be there for six weeks, but our little fighter was discharged on the eleventh day! Matthew is incredibly resilient! Matthew's team of surgeons, doctors, nurses, and specialists are incredible and made our stay at Children's bearable! We are fundraising for BCH because we are forever grateful for the unbelievable care they provided for Matty!
