2017 Corporate Cup Competition

Teams will battle for points in events such as basketball knockout, football throws, obstacle course, corn toss and much more! It will be a day filled with fun, fierce battles, culminating with the Tug of War event and ending with a reception to celebrate and announce the winners.

Team T-Shirt Competition

We’re challenging all teams to come up with the most creative team shirt. Include your company name, a witty slogan, or simply your love for Boston Children’s Hospital, and wear your team shirts proudly on event day! The winning team will be awarded The Teddy Trophy.

Athletic Events
MFS 50 Yard Dash

Teams:

  • All team members must participate. Teams must consist of at least one male and one female

Competition Format:

  • Each participant will run a distance of 50 yards then pass a baton to their teammate.
  • Each runner must stay in his/her own lane.
  • All races are timed.

Point System:

  • The final time of all 20 team members will be your team time. If a team does not have 20 members then participants must run multiple times.
  • 30 points will be awarded to the overall fastest team; 15 points will be awarded to the second fastest team; five points will be awarded to the third fastest team.
Shark|Ninja Obstacle Course

Teams:

  • Each obstacle team will consist of six team members, three males and three females.

Competition Format:

  • Team members will travel through obstacles both physical and mental one at a time for the fastest cumulative time.
  • Each team member must travel one at a time through the obstacles. The next team member cannot begin until the previous team member has completed all obstacles.
  • Team members are not allowed to bypass an obstacle. All obstacles must be completed prior to moving on to the next obstacle.
  • Once all members of the team complete all individual obstacles, the team will compete in the ski walk together and then go on to solve a puzzle.

Point System:

  • 30 points will be awarded to the fastest overall team; 15 points will be awarded to the second fastest overall team; five points will be awarded to the third fastest overall team.
BJ’s Wholesale Club Football Throws

Teams:

  • Teams will consist of six members, two of which must be the minority gender.

Competition Format:

  • Each team member will have three throws to throw the football at targets set up at different distances.
  • The participant can throw the football at any of the three targets.

Point System:

  • The farthest target is worth 15 points
  • The middle target is worth ten points
  • The closest target is worth five points
P&G Gillette Soccer Knockout

Teams:

  • Teams will consist of eight people, three of which must be the minority gender, which will be broken down into two subsequent teams of four.

Competition Format:

  • Participants will have their own soccer ball inside the knockout field boundaries.
  • The objective is to knockout all of the opponents’ soccer balls outside of the boundaries.
  • Four players from each team will play at a time. After ten minutes the other four players will play in a second heat.

Point System:

  • The last standing male and last standing female of each heat will be awarded 30 points.
Waters Corporation Basketball Knockout

Teams:

  • This game will consist of four people from each team, who will be divided into two separate games. One male and one female must participate in each game.

Competition Format:

  • The object of basketball knockout is to knock out the player in front of you and continue until you are the last player standing.
  • Players line up single file at the free throw line. The first two players in line each get a basketball.
  • The first player shoots. If he makes it, he throws the ball to the next person standing in line and goes to the back of the line. If he misses it, he rebounds the ball and attempts to score a basket as quickly as possible.
  • The second player shoots the ball after the first player makes the shot or his ball hits the rim. If he sinks a basket before the first player makes a basket, he throws the ball to the next person in line and goes to the back of the line.
  • At that point the first player has been knocked out and is no longer part of the game.
  • Play continues until there is one winner.

Point System:

  • The winner at each basketball hoop will receive 100 points for his or her team.
Skills Events
Wells Fargo Corn Toss

Teams:

  • Teams will consist of eight people, three of which must be the minority gender, which will be broken down into four subsequent teams of two.
  • Each team will play against an opposing company.
  • Two additional team members will be required as scorekeepers for this game.

Competition Format:

  • The first two teams will play against an opposing company for eight minutes, and then the second two teams will rotate in.
  • Each team member will alternate lobbing four beanbags to the opposite board 27 feet away. Team members will alternate until the end of the timed game. Team members will receive one point for each bag that lands and stays on the board and three points for each bag that lands in the hole. Any bag that hits the ground before hitting the board is "dead" and won't be eligible to score points even if it bounces onto the board.
  • Beanbag must fall completely through the hole. Partially hanging beanbags will only be counted as one point.

Point System:

  • All eight team members’ points will be added together to determine the team’s overall score.
  • Score sheets will be provided to each team to tally the opposing teams points.
Cannistraro Ladder Ball

Teams:

  • Teams will consist of eight people, three of which must be the minority gender, which will be broken down into four subsequent teams of two.
  • Each team will play against an opposing company.

Competition Format:

  • The first two teams will play against an opposing company for eight minutes, and then the second two teams will rotate in.
  • Each team member will alternate lobbing three bolas to the opposite ladder 15 feet away. Team members will alternate until the end of the timed game. Team members will receive one point for each bola that lands on the bottom rung, two points for each bola that lands on the second rung and three points for each bola that lands on the top rung.
  • Opposing players are allowed to throw their bolas at the ladder to knock off their opponent’s bolas. All bolas still hanging at the end of each round count towards the team’s score.

Point System:

  • All eight team members’ points will be added together to determine the team’s overall score.
Boston Consulting Group Plank Challenge

Teams:

  • All members of the team will hold a plank at the same time while the team guide times the longest holding male and female.
  • This event will take place immediately after the opening ceremonies before each team reports to their first scheduled event.

Competition Format:

  • Team members will hold a plank for as long as they can while being timed.
  • Participants must hold the same position for the duration on forearms. No shifting allowed.
  • If position is broken, time will end.

Point System:

  • 40 points will be awarded to the team of the individual male and individual female who holds the longest plank. Teams that have 8 or more team members participate in the plank challenge will receive an additional 5 points.
The Main Event
Granite Telecommunications Tug of War

Teams:

  • Each team will consist of eight team members, three of which must be the minority gender.

Competition Format:

  • The competition will be single elimination in a bracket format.
  • The winning team must pull the losing team five yards so that the rope marker crosses the line.
  • Gloves are allowed. Gloves will not be provided.
  • Cleats are not allowed.
  • Participants must stay on their feet and not sit, kneel, or lie down. The rope must not wrap around any participant.

Point System:

  • 51 teams will receive a first round bye.
  • 40 points will be awarded to the first place team and 20 points will be awarded to the second place team

Scoring rules

  • Teams with fewer than 20 participants will be scored on the same scale as teams with 20 participants.
  • All team members must compete in at least one event.
  • All participants are required to sign a waiver prior to competing.

Event Day

The Corporate Cup will be held on Thursday, July 20 at the Harvard Athletic Complex at noon.

The Boston Children’s Hospital Corporate Cup reserves the right to delay, postpone, cancel, or not officially score any event in the event of adverse weather conditions.

In the event that the Boston Children’s Hospital Corporate Cup needs to be cancelled entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
